He began his career as a child actor and gained recognition for his role as Ryoma Echizen in the musical adaptation of Prince of Tennis (Tenimyu). This role earned him the nickname "The Prince of Tenimyu" due to his impressive streak of 518 consecutive performances without missing a single one.
